Technologically Advanced Materials
Cycles Fanatic frames and components are made from the highest quality High-Modulus carbon fiber-reinforced polymer that is used by the top companies in the cycling business. Carbon fiber-reinforced polymer or carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP or CRP), is a very strong, light, and expensive composite material or fiber-reinforced polymer. Similar to fiberglass (glass reinforced polymer), the composite material is commonly referred to by the name of its reinforcing fibers (carbon fiber). The polymer is most often epoxy, but other polymers, such as polyester, vinyl ester or nylon, are sometimes used. Some composites contain both carbon fiber and other fibers such as Kevlar, aluminum, and fiberglass reinforcement. The terms graphite-reinforced polymer or graphite fiber-reinforced polymer (GFRP) are also used, but less commonly, since glass-(fiber)-reinforced polymer can also be called GFRP. In product advertisements, it is sometimes referred to simply as graphite fiber (or graphite fibre), for short. It has many applications in aerospace and automotive fields, as well as in sailboats, and notably in modern bicycles and motorcycles, where its high strength-to-weight ratio is of importance.
"Pre-impregnated" composite fibers usually take the form of a weave or are uni-directional. They already contain an amount of the matrix material used to bond them together and to other components during manufacture. The pre-pregare mostly stored in cooled areas since activation is most commonly done by heat. Hence, composite structures built of pre-pregs will mostly require an oven or autoclave to cure out.There are several advantages and disadvantages of the pre-preg process in comparison to the hot injection process. Pre-preg allows one to impregnate the fibers on a flat workable surface, or rather in an industrial process, and then later form the impregnated fibers to a shape which could prove to be problematic for the hot injection process. Prepreg also allows one to impregnate a bulk amount of fiber and then store it in a cooled area for an extended period of time to cure later. Pre-preg on the other hand can be time consuming in comparison to the hot injection process.
Recent advances in Out-of-Autoclave (OOA) processes hold promise for improving performance and lowering costs for composite structures. Using vacuum-bag-only (VBO) for atmospheric pressures, the new OOA processes promise to deliver the less than 1 percent void content required for aerospace primary structures. Led by material scientists at Air Force Research Lab, the technique would save the costs of constructing and installing large structure autoclaves ($100M saved at NASA) and making small production runs of 100 aircraft economically viable.

Carbon Nanotube Technology (CNT)
Known for being the latest and greatest thing in carbon engineering for the past several years, all the advantages of CNT reinforced structures, until recently, haven’t been realized in the bicycling industry. The main problem has been overcoming the natural tendency for carbon nanotubes to coagulate into lumps.
For the past few years our manufacturing partners have been working with Europe’s leading Nanotube research and development companies. The result is that we are now able to offer specific CNT reinforced products where the nanotubes are evenly dispersed, and of measurable benefit.
Carbon Rims for wheels-
Standard pre-impregnated carbon is commonly used throughout the bicycle industry and are good thermal insulators. This is one reason why the development of the world’s first fully functional and reliable carbon clincher has taken so long to hit the market.
Our products are developed, constructed, and tested under the strictest EN 14781 safety standards newly issued by the European Union and come with a Warranty for defects in workmanship. (2 year warranty on all frames and 1 year warranty on wheels and other parts) Cycles FANATIC shall supply the buyer with a new frame or new parts in the case of replacing defective frames or parts.
